Choosing a lab-grown diamond solitaire ring
Why a solitaire
A solitaire is a single lab-grown diamond on a band. Nothing competes with the centre stone, which is why it remains the classic engagement ring and never dates. It also sits neatly beside a wedding band.
Choose the shape
Round brilliant is the classic, cut for maximum sparkle. Oval and marquise lab-grown diamonds are longer on the finger and can look larger than a round lab-grown diamond of the same carat weight. Princess and cushion cuts give a squarer outline, and an emerald cut trades sparkle for long, glassy flashes of light.
Then the band
A plain polished band keeps the look pure. Lab-grown diamond-set shoulders add sparkle either side of the centre stone, a cathedral setting raises the lab-grown diamond on sweeping arches, and crossover, swirl and split-shank bands give a more modern line.
