Sterling silver and lab-grown diamond jewellery: a quick guide

      What 925 sterling silver means

Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver, with a little copper added for strength, which is where the number 925 comes from. Its bright, cool white shine suits the sparkle of a lab-grown diamond and makes it easy to wear every day.

      Rings, earrings and pendants

Our silver edit covers sterling silver lab-grown diamond rings, from slim solitaires to stacking bands, silver lab-grown diamond earrings including studs and climbers, and silver lab-grown diamond necklaces and pendants made for layering, plus a small edit of bracelets and bangles. Every stone is a lab-grown diamond, never cubic zirconia or moissanite.

      Silver or gold?

Silver is the lighter way into lab-grown diamond jewellery, and a lovely first piece or gift. Gold is the one to choose for a ring you will wear every day for decades: it is harder-wearing and does not tarnish the way silver can. When you are ready, our solid 14kt and 18kt gold pieces carry the same lab-grown diamonds.

      Keeping silver bright

All silver darkens a little over time; it is natural and easy to put right. Store each piece on its own in a dry pouch or box, take it off for swimming, cleaning and the gym, and buff it gently with a silver polishing cloth. Our care guide has the details.

      Your questions

Are the stones lab-grown diamonds or imitations? Every stone is a lab-grown diamond: the same carbon crystal, hardness and sparkle as a mined stone, grown in a laboratory instead of mined.

Can I wear sterling silver every day? Yes. Silver is softer than gold, so a ring may pick up fine marks over the years, and a polishing cloth keeps it bright.

How long does a silver piece take? Around four weeks, because each one is made to order, and UK delivery is free, tracked and signed for.
